When is the best time for newborn photos?
Although not a hard fast rule, I recommend photographing newborns within the first 2 weeks of life, ideally between 5-10 days. Generally babies are more sleepy and calm in the early days, and often times both parents off work during that time, making scheduling easier. 

Where do your newborn sessions take place?
Although I do have a studio room that can be used for newborn photography, I reccomend all newborn sessions take place in the comfort of your home. The main reason is that generally Baby & Parents are in a more relaxed setting. If you are worried that your home may be too small, or not conducive to photography, don't worry, I will bring backdrops and other photography equipment to make any space work. I will say as a general recommendation, I like to use an area near a window for natural lighting so I do ask if you could try to make a small decluttered area by a window. Once again, no worries if you can't, we will adjust accordingly. 

How long do newborn sessions last?
That can be difficult question to answer since there are many variables. For example, what is the babies mood, how many different clothing changes, will there be additional pictures with family members, etc.... I generally do not time my sessions, I just stay until I have all the needed images . The length of a session also may depend on how much set up I need to do in your home, how ready everyone is when I arrive, and how many breaks are needed for feeding, changing and soothing. For a newborn with no older siblings, sessions are typically 1-2 hrs. With a sibling, timing can be closer to 2 -3 hrs.

What should my newborn wear during the session?
I bring simple white wraps for the baby to wear during the session. I also will provide simple backdrops, blankets, and props (example basket, bean bag). If you have any specific outfits, props, blankets, etc..we will incorporate those.

What should I do to prepare for the session?
It is best if the baby is fed and comfortable for when I arrive so that the baby is resting and we do not need to stop for feeding. Since the baby may not be fully wrapped for some pictures, it is best to have the room a little warmer than normal so the baby is comfortable. I do not bring clothing or outfits for the baby. As noted above if you would like your baby to be in pictures other than a simple wrap, please have clothing options chosen and ready in advance.
